The 1st Team play in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division which is at the tenth-tier of the National League System (Step 6 in the Non-League Pyramid).

The club's Reserve Team play in the Herts Senior County League Division Two, which is two levels below the 1st Team.

We were formed in 2003 after Southern League Baldock Town FC folded back in 2001. The new senior side, which was simply named Baldock FC, was formed from former players of the youth system and was put together by committee members of the successful youth setup (www.baldocktyfc.co.uk).

Although the club has gone on to bring in players from other surrounding areas, it has always been one of the main policies of the committee to provide football for players from Baldock, and surrounding area, particularly youngsters of the Youth FC when they were ready to move up.

2003/2004 Season

In the Club's debut season, Baldock FC were managed by Percy Davies and Malcolm Ward, both of which were also running their own youth sides at the time, which was a testament to their commitment to bring football to the older lads, who may otherwise have given up playing.

After a tough start a very respectable fifth place finish was achieved, which was a good result after a big change in playing personnel over the course of the season, with many faces coming and going.

2004/2005 Season

The 2004/2005 season saw Assistant Manager Malcolm Ward take over the management reigns from Percy Davies and he soon added some new acquisitions to further strengthen the squad.

The Club ended 2004 in superb fashion as they crushed Division One leaders Bedwell Rangers 5-2 to make up for a humiliating 5-0 defeat that they had suffered against them earlier in the season. The dawn of the New Year saw The Reds unbeaten in ten matches and still making good progress in all the Cups.

However, a dip in form followed in January and February, as their unbeaten league run was ended by Wilbury Wanderers and they had soon been dumped out of the Herts Junior Cup, Greg Cup and Division One Cup in quick succession.

By mid-February, Baldock had only won two in six matches and were struggling to maintain third place in the league with Magnum breathing down their necks. After a defeat to their promotion rivals in March, The Reds got revenge the following week in The Benevolent Shield, winning after extra-time 1-0.

If the Club were to finish third, they would have to remain unbeaten until the end of the season. Despite losing in The Benevolent Shield Quarter-Finals to Walsworth Anchor again, The Reds won three of their last four, with the other being a draw. A draw that meant Baldock had pipped Magnum to third place in Division One on goal difference and promotion to the Premier Division was achieved.

2005/2006 Season

The 05/06 season saw the formation of a new Reserves side, as the development of the Senior setup continued. Malcolm Ward continued his fine work in charge of the First-Team and made seven new signings for the new campaign. After a good first half of the campaign that saw the 1st Team sit proudly in second in the Premier Division at Christmas, everything turned sour with a few faces becoming unreliable and a lack of harmony in the First Team lead to Malcolm Ward's resignation in mid-February.

Paul Rusbridge and First Team midfielder Lee Rusbridge took over the reins on a caretaker basis until the end of the season. It was a difficult time for the duo, as they tried to scrape a side together for the remaining games. Their hard work was almost rewarded when they just missed out on a semi-final berth in the Benevolent Shield after their second place in Group B was not quite enough.

As for the Reserves, Manager Barry Laurence, assisted by Steve King couldn't have endured a much better first season in charge, as they lead their troops to the Division One Cup and runners-up in Division One. The Reserves were only denied a memorable League and Cup double by Magnum, who snatched the title in a play-off on the league's final afternoon. The mixture of youth and experience made the Reserves first season a big success, with the likes of Lee Buck, Paul Martin and Steve King nurturing the exciting youngsters such as Ross Haskins, Cameron Brawley and James Smith - all of whom would progress to the 1st Team.

2006/2007 Season

The 2006/2007 season saw the Club revert from Baldock FC back to the name of former Southern League club Baldock Town. The Reserves successful management duo of Barry Laurence and Steve King stepped up to the First Team with Sean Ennis and Chris Beedell forming the new management team for the Reserve side. The 1st Team took their place in the Premier Division of the newly-formed North & Mid Herts Football League, with the Reserves playing in the league's Division One North.

At the close of 2006, Barry and Steve had lead the first team to second in the North & Mid Herts Premier Division and the Club were still challenging on all fronts after making the Quarter-Final of the Herts Junior Cup for the first time and also sealing semi-final berths in both the Greg Cup and Premier Division Cup (Benevolent Shield).

After a league defeat to Woolmer Green in early December, the 1st Team went on an unbeaten run of 12 matches, which included Quarter-Final and Semi-Final victories in the Herts Junior Cup against Ware Lions and Greenbury United respectively - the latter being played in front of over 150 spectators at Knights Templar Sports Centre.

The Club had reached the final of a competition which began with over 120 clubs, so this was some achievement. The unbeaten run also included a Semi-Final victory in the Premier Division Cup over London Colney "A', which set up a final with St Ippolyts. However, the Club were unable to make it three Semi-Final victories in three weeks as they surrendered a 2-0 lead in the Greg Cup against Fairlands and lost 4-2.

The Herts Junior Cup Final at The County Ground in Letchworth on Good Friday in 2007, saw Baldock beaten 5-4 after extra time by West Herts League Kings Sports after leading 4-2 a minute into the second half thanks to goals from Mark Nunn (2), Cameron Brawley and Harry Holland. The match was played in front of a bumper crowd of 576 and will surely go down as one of the greatest in Junior Cup history.

After the heartbreak of losing the Junior Cup Final, Barry and Steve's side would go on to finish second in the Premier Division and also finish runners-up in the Premier Division Cup (Benevolent Shield) after going down 3-1 to St Ippolyts in the Final.

After sitting fourth in the table at the turn of the year, Sean and Chris's Reserve side endured a tough second half of the season in their first campaign in management with their team of youngsters ending the season in 7th place.

The Club's chase for honours was however put into perspective when promising 1st Team youngster Michael Masters lost a leg in a horrific accident on the London Underground shortly after being sent off in the Junior Cup Final in April 2007.

He has since made a fantastic recovery and gone on to represent Great Britain at Amputee Football. The club organised a charity match in his honour in September of that year against an old Baldock Town XI (formerly of the Southern Football League club pre-2001). The match saw the 'new' BTFC win 2-0 and the event raised in excess of £1,500.
